OWN IT!!!!

I found a copy of The Business of Being Born at our local Blockbuster in the previously viewed DVDs for sale section!!!! I'm so pumped!!!!!!! It was $6.99 MINUS 30% because of a sale they were having, so for a skoukum deal I got an AWESOME resource I can use for years to come as a doula, midwife, friend, and general natural childbirth advocate. I already loaned it to a friend, the same day I bought it. Hooray! I also want to read Ricki Lake's book, Your Best Birth. Looking good, people.

If you find that deal again, buy one for me please!!!!!!! Also, do you have any idea if I can get my hands on "Orgasmic Birth"? Amazon has a 6-8 week shipping lead time so it might not arrive before I come back.

hm, i'm not sure Daen...I will go back and look, but my copy of TBOBB was a fluke--someone must have bought it and brought it back, as there was just one copy and I know it was popular amongst the doulas and midwives in town. Even the salesgirl was surprised I found a copy.
My friend Asheya owns Orgasmic Birth, I wonder if she knows where to get one quick? I'll ask her! I would love a copy of that one, too.

Definitely a great movie! I actually don't own Orgasmic Birth, but I just watched it (borrowed it from a midwife). It was a great movie too. I like how they raise the whole concept of birth as a sexual experience - our sexuality is so much more than just "sex", but that's what we usually think of. I tend to think a better name for this movie would have been Ecstatic Birth, as I think that is what they are really talking about. Not so much that every woman will/should experience orgasm during birth, but that the pain and the pleasure of birth are all rolled together in a normal birth into this amazing in your body experience that is unlike anything else, and that has ecstatic moments (or moment). For me that ecstatic moment of totally letting go and feeling flooded by joy was in the few minutes after I had given birth, when I was holding my baby in my arms.

I think they used the title Orgasmic Birth because it's more riske and therefore more people might watch it.
